Wedding Band in the French Alps

It may not be the most traditional time to host your nuptials but there are many reasons why winter weddings are becoming more and more popular. In fact, some people will argue that it is the best time to get married. After all, how many winter weddings have you been invited to? And just think of all those beautiful seasonal decorations, heart-warming winter cocktails and glistening snow. Not to mention the stress-free wedding planning as all your top choices are all available on your chosen date.

But if you still need convincing of why you should hold a winter wedding, let’s outline the benefits in more detail.

THE LOCATION

Chamonix wedding

What could be more magical than a white wedding? Chamonix is known in the world for its spectacular Mont Blanc massif, setting a sensational backdrop for this romantic destination. Every dedicated skier and snowboarder puts Chamonix on their bucket list. The charming resort sitting at the foot of Mont Blanc buzzes with a colourful, cosmopolitan crowd. The valley is filled with charming old Victorian buildings and Belle Époque architecture. There are many venues available for a religious ceremony in Chamonix, particularly the beautiful Saint Michel Catholic church in the centre of town. There are also a host of exceptional venues for your wedding reception.

Megève wedding

Megève had its beginnings as a ski resort in the 1910s when the Rothschild family started to spend their winter vacations here after becoming disenchanted with the Swiss resort of St. Moritz. Megève has been one of Europe’s most popular resorts ever since, attracting many wealthy individuals and celebrities. They are all drawn to its history, but also the charm of Megève. It is in a lovely sunny setting and has a beautifully preserved, partly medieval centre, which is car-free and comes complete with open-air ice rink, horse-drawn sleighs, cobbled streets and a fine church. Lots of smart clothing, jewellery, antique, gift and food shops add to the chic atmosphere.

The medieval church is the perfect place to hold a wedding ceremony. Built at the same time as the Priory founded by the Benedictine monks in 1085, the church consists of three parts each corresponding to a different era. It is listed as a historical monument and is one of the most original in the region. The choir, with its late gothic style, dates back to the end of the 14th century.

There are also a number of incredible venues for your wedding reception, from refined five-star hotels, to romantic chalets.

A HOLIDAY FOR EVERYONE

Who doesn’t want to spend a few days of the long winter season in the magical resort of Chamonix or Megève? Guests will be excited at the prospect of a mini-holiday in the French Alps surrounding your magical wedding ceremony and celebration.
